Level 1 Mindfulness: Being Present
🌿 Mindfulness Based Living Course –
Your 8-week path to steadiness and inner sanctuary.
In our fast-paced world of constant connectivity and filtered screens, it's easy to feel depleted or disconnected. Mindfulness offers a simple yet profound remedy: a chance to pause, breathe, and return home to yourself.
Whether you are navigating stress, anxiety, or sleep struggles, or simply longing for greater emotional resilience, you are welcome here. Practicing mindfulness helps settle the nervous system and softens your internal reactivity.
Over time, this leads to a steadier focus and a deeper sense of calm, not because life becomes perfect, but because your relationship with it becomes kinder. Science shows that mindfulness can significantly reduce stress and improve overall wellbeing. It isn't about escaping reality; it is about meeting each moment with awareness and choice.
This accredited 8-week course, sanctioned by the Mindfulness Association UK and taught by Mia Middleton, provides a structured and supportive space to grow. Throughout our weeks together, we will explore:

You will receive guided meditations, reflective course materials, and the warmth of a gentle community. After Care & Review
A 4-hour review organized one month after completion to explore progress. We revisit practices and plan for sustained development. Participants who finish the full 8-week course receive a certificate of completion.

Most people come to compassion work not because life is calm, but because life is hard. We suffer. We struggle. We get caught in old patterns, harsh self-talk, and the pressure to hold everything together.
This course is designed to meet you right there in the real, messy, human experience, and guide you toward a kinder, steadier relationship with yourself and others.
Over eight sessions (each lasting 2 hours), plus an additional day of practice, we explore compassion in a way that is practical, grounded, and deeply human. You don’t need to be spiritual, calm, or confident. You just need to be willing to show up as you are.

The Compassion Journey
This course begins with a simple recognition: being human is hard. So we start by gently noticing our own suffering and creating a space where it’s safe to be real, imperfect, and fully ourselves.
As the weeks unfold, we learn that compassion isn’t about being calm or sorted — it’s about meeting our inner “compassionate mess” with warmth. We explore gratitude, grounding, and the motivations that help us soften instead of tighten.
Our brains evolved to worry, react, and self-criticise. Seeing this clearly brings relief, and from that relief, self-compassion becomes possible. From here, we deepen into compassionate being, connecting with the wiser part of ourselves.
After a nourishing day of practice, we widen the circle. We explore loving-kindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity, learning how to extend these qualities to ourselves and others. We end by weaving everything together into a mindful way of life.
We have a revision of our learning in a follow-up session a month after the course ends, checking in with how our Compassion journey is unfolding.

Most people don’t reach out for mindfulness because they’re not interested, they hesitate because they’re human. Busy minds, self-doubt, fear of “not doing it right,” or the worry that they won’t be able to sit still or relax… these are some of the most common reasons people hold back. And they’re completely understandable.
How one-to-one coaching supports you
In a private session, the pressure drops. There’s no group to keep up with, no expectation to be a certain way, no need to hide your inner world. Instead, we work gently and collaboratively, at your pace.
My one-to-one sessions are designed with these very real concerns in mind. My approach blends mindfulness, self-compassion, and gentle embodiment practices to help you reconnect with a sense of safety and belonging within yourself.

Forest Immersion & Nature Flow
Join us for a 3hour in-person workshop in Dunnotar Woods Stonehaven. Meeting at the car park off the A957. Experience basic mindfulness techniques, tips for nature connection, and collective creativity using forest materials. We conclude with a group reflection and mindful eating of our lunch. Please bring a notebook, water, and packed lunch, and wear sturdy shoes and weather-appropriate clothing.

Mid-Summer Reflection Meditation
Pause mid-season to reconnect with yourself during this free 45-minute live online session. Our time together includes 15 minutes of gentle settling and preparation, a 25-minute guided meditation contemplating the present and our aspirations for the future. We will close with a 5 minute reflection. It is a perfect opportunity to find your center and carry a lasting sense of calm into the weeks ahead.

Meet outside the Winter Gardens at Duthie Park, Aberdeen, for a 1.5-hour immersion in mindful walking and gentle Qi Gong.
